Tomollo Journal

May 29, 2026

The name Tomollo does not belong to either tradition it draws from. That is intentional. Founder designer of Tomollo Fashions wanted a word that stood outside geography, a name that did not announce itself as Kenyan or Irish, but simply as itself. The clothes would do the explaining.

The brand's founding premise is deceptively simple, that Irish-inspired structural fashion, the clean lines, the architectural tailoring, the restrained palette of the European tradition, does not cancel out the vibrancy of Kenyan heritage textiles. It converses with it. The Kente Grid Reversible Bomber is perhaps the clearest example of this dialogue in action. On one side, bold Kente derived geometric patterning in warm ochres and deep greens. Flip it, and you find a quieter, more structured lining that would not look out of place on a Dublin high street. The same garment. Two entirely different statements.

The Aqua Cascade Safari Dress tells a different kind of story. The silhouette is loose and confident, made for East African heat, but the cut carries an unmistakable European discipline in its seaming and drape. The fabric, a high quality organic cotton in a deep aqua print, moves the way hand selected textiles move, with intention. It is not stiff. It is not shapeless. It occupies a third space between the two traditions it references, and that space is where Tomollo lives.

All of this is made possible by a commitment to materials that most fashion brands pay lip service to but rarely honor. Tomollo uses high quality textiles, organic fibers, and upcycled materials, not as a marketing line, but as a constraint that actually shapes the design process. When your fabric choices are limited to what is genuinely sustainable, you are forced to be more creative with cut, with silhouette, with the intelligence of the pattern. Limitation, here, becomes the engine of invention.

Every piece is crafted in Kenya and ships from the United States, a logistics arrangement that keeps the making rooted in Nairobi while reaching a global customer base without friction. The 30 day guarantee and swift shipping are not just convenience features. They are a statement of confidence: we stand behind what we make, and we make it to last.
